Samuel Sánchez first leader of the Vuelta a Burgos
Samuel Sanchez won the first stage of the Vuelta a Burgos
The Spanish rider Samuel Sanchez, won the first stage of the Vuelta a Burgos, developed this Wednesday between Villarcayo and Miranda de Ebro, out of a total of 168 kms.
The corridor of the Euskaltel team spent a time of 3 hours, 51 minutes and 7 seconds to cover the distance, and reached the goal solo along with 3 other riders.
Less than a kilometre to the finish “Cigar” launched the attack, but Samuel Sánchez, duck and Menchov managed to stick to his wheel.
In the final sprint “samu” was the fastest be imposed ahead of fellow Joaquín “Purito” Rodríguez (Katusha) and Sergio Pardilla (Movistar Team), second and third respectively, while Russian Denis Menchov (Rabobank) was fourth.
David López (Movistar Team) arrived later to 4 seconds, while 8 made it his teammate Pablo Lastras.
The second stage of this test is correra Thursday, with point of departure and arrival in Burgos, with an urban circuit of 14 kilometers within the city, including the passing by the Castle (3rd category).
